Music

Third graders will...

  • develop understanding of notational concepts, i.e., repeat sign, letter names of staff lines and spaces, and sharps and flats.
  • recognize time signatures, legato, and staccato styles, crescendo and decrescendo.
  • appreciate the uses of music reading and composition.
  • learn to play the recorder.
  • develop accompaniment skills using autoharp, and Orloff instruments.
  • experiment with basic conducting skills and patterns.
  • recognize the connection between music and other subjects.
