Requests to Conduct Research Studies in the Framingham Public Schools

Individuals, organizations, or groups requesting to conduct research in the Framingham Public Schools often require the data collection and analysis of human subjects - students, families, educators, and administrators. Therefore, all requests to conduct research in the Framingham Public Schools require approval from the Framingham Public Schools Research Review Board.  This is a representative committee comprising the Framingham Public Schools district and school-based administrators who are responsible for approving and overseeing research projects.

*Requests require completion of an application form FPS Research Request Application

*If a candidate has prior approval from an institutional IRB, please send confirmation of official approval upon submitting your FPS research

*Request to mobrien26@framingham.k12.ma.us as this may expedite the approval process.

All research will pass through the Framingham Public Schools Internal Review Committee (IRB).  There tends to be 3 Types of Research within FPS.

1.FHS Student AP Research Projects students - Run by Alison Courchesne

2.Scholars, Researchers affiliated with higher education interested in conducting research

3. Professional Studies in collaboration with educational curriculum, instruction, and assessment tools

Any research that involves students will be further vetted to ensure proper approvals, consent (data privacy, legal, parent/Guardian) and appropriate departmental review (i.e. Special Education, Student Supports, Multilingual, etc.)

Research requests are reviewed during bi-montlhy IRB meetings when the committee meets.
