The Expanded Learning (ELT) Department at Framingham Public Schools is committed to offering enriching and engaging after-school and before-school programs for students in grades K-12. These programs are designed to complement the regular school day through hands-on, project-based activities that promote academic enrichment, creativity, and social development. The department emphasizes creating inclusive, safe, and accessibly environments by partnering with community organizations, supporting student needs, and organizing community events and field trips. Through a collaborative and flexible approach, the ELT programs aim to provide a positive and enriching out-of-school experience that fosters student growth and community involvement.

 

Our Mission

Framingham Public Schools Department of Expanded Learning Time (ELT) provides multifaceted, comprehensive, and equitable Out-of-School Time programming for students while actively promoting Family and Community Engagement, in alignment with the FPS Strategic Plan.

  3. Create more robust professional development opportunities to equip ELT staff better to deliver the highest quality program based on students' and families' needs.

The FPS Department of Expanded Learning is excited to share that registration is now open for our Elementary Summer Programs: Summer Scene and Framingham Youth Theater. These programs offer fun, engaging, and enriching experiences for Framingham Public Schools students this summer. Meals and transportation for these programs are provided at no cost. Spots are limited, so don’t wait - register today!

Summer Scene

Location: Stapleton Elementary School
Dates: July 6 through August 7

  • New this year! We added an additional week of programming. Families can register for individual weeks depending on their needs.

Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm

  • New this year! Optional extended day from 7:30am to 5:30pm (requires additional fee)

Eligibility: FPS students entering Grades K through 6 for the 2026-27 school year

Capacity: Up to 170 students per week

Cost (New Pick Your Price Model):

 

Important Registration Information

  • Students must be registered as current Framingham Public Schools students in order to enroll.
  • Registration opens on Monday, February 2. Priority registration will remain open through March 6, 2026.
  • After registration closes, if the number of interested families exceeds available slots, a lottery will be held.
  • Families will be notified of their child’s application status no later than March 13, 2026.

 

 


 

Framingham Youth Theater

Location: Cameron Middle School
Dates: July 6 through July 31
This is a four-week program. Students must register for all four weeks.
Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm
Eligibility: FPS students entering Grades 1 through 6 for the 2026–27 school year

Capacity: 75 students

Cost: $1000
